Re: streaming

In your Event Scheduler where it asks for a file name simply put the URL of the mp3 stream that you want Raduga to play (like if you were going to download a podcast), and schedule it. You have to have a broadband internet connection on the PC that Raduga is running on of course.

Hope that helps.

Re: streaming

We did an hour of streaming from Dunedoo High School using laptop & radio modem back to studio... Only thing laptop is working hard we have three jobs going ...Raduga Windows Media Encoder and the program running the modem... Wish Raduga could handle 2 sound cards.

The comuter at the station does switching for news and then back to remote all works fine ... Ken Westerman

Re: streaming

Hi

I have been working with Bob to try to connect to a remote live stream, but have failed so far.

I can get Raduga to play a prerecorded MP3 file from a remote web site by specifying the full URL, but I cannot get it to play live streams.

I have three sources of streams, and the problem is as follows:

1. Streaming software, using streams from two different streaming server programs: Broadwave (from NCH Software) or from No23live (from No23.de).

In both cases, I specify the URL in the format
http :// ip address:port / filename.mp3

Raduga will play the stream, but an error window pops up, with an OK button. This error cannot be cleared, and no other user interaction with Raduga is possible. Playing stops if the stream is terminated (by stopping the remote streaming server program), but the only way to resume interaction with Raduga is to kill it and restart Raduga.

2. From a physical streaming device: I have a Barix Instreamer (barix.com). In this case, the URL is
http :// ip address:port / streamname - with no file extension (e.g. .mp3) on the end.

In this case, Raduga won't even start to play it.

I can play all three sources happliy using Windows Media Player, and the broadwave and Instreamer streams play using Winamp, so I'm assuming this is a problem with Raduga?

Ken: what software do you use for your streaming server?

Thanks

Re: streaming

Ok Ken, You have no problems. SO, how do you get it to work. I've seen an old post from Wolf that Raduga can't play a live stream. I did figure out how to make Raduga play from the line input. I want the program to be able to play a "live STREAM" (streaming audio from a website) not from a "line input”, from a "URL". Winamp has an easy to use scheduler program that can be used from another computer's output to the "Line in" of the Raduga computer.
I've have found that the "line in" that Raduga uses is the "line volume" from the "Playback" part of the sound card. This isn't what you would want. You need to use the "line volume" from the "Recording Control” part of the sound card. Then there is no loopback within the card from using the input at the same time as the output.

Re: streaming

Hello

I do not do exactly what you are asking I use two computers one on internet and the other using raduga...

I have tried using WM Player where a URL stream can be started. And then in Raduga Line in set to play control Wave.... and then just do the xxx.Live switch request either in the playlist or the event...

Is that what you want ... we stream here from one computer audio wise to the Raduga computer no connections between computers otherwise...

My small laptop will run three programs well to do OB ie the internet program Wm Encoder & Raduga....Speed should be enough for two

Does that help you and I have just tried WM player and seems OK

Re: streaming

Hello ken,

Aha, that clears it - you are using WMP to read the incoming stream, and not Raduga. As I said before, I don't think Raduga will play live streams.

We can't use the Line-in option like you, as we have a satellite feed into the line in for the opt-in news bulletins.

I'm going to post my question above again as a new topic, just in case someone has figured it out.

Thanks

Re: streaming

Mick

I do have facilities I manufactured with help from Wolf..

I have a relay put in to switch one source from a choice of two..

I use Java script which is started from the schedule and only use the sound card...

to get the relay to work by sending 10 characters 8 bit to say com port 1 pin 4 of RS232 goes posative instead of negative..

It stays posative until it runs out of characters to send... I make a mini play list which looks like this.

C:\Schedule\Live Switch etc\Close Line In.mp3
C:\Schedule\Live Switch etc\56 Min 03 Secs.JS
C:\Schedule\Program Announcements\AN Cross To Senior Citz.mp3
C:\Schedule\Live Switch etc\3600.Live

When the cross back to news service an hour later the character sending has completed we put an announcement for sponsor of news and take news. Then after news we take from here then on... I live cross is taken off air and is actually re a broadcast.

Components are an opto coupler 6N139 very small relay two resistors two small diodes all goes in a case bit bigger than a match box.

Only thing you would need second external input..

For crosses to OB we plug internet machine to this device cross back and forth for OB ..

If you want circuit I have it in Jpg...could email if you like.

Other than that I am sorry I cannot help with just using one computer..

Re: streaming

Hello Wolf

How far away is the version to Raduga like the other freely vailable one.... Would be terrific to use Raduga at both ends Ie encoding at input and play at receive...

the other one only receives at moment..

Have a look at CBAA site Australia you can see under news what we are doing in Dunedoo reference plain simple and cheap Outside Broadcasting. If any one has and queries I am only too pleased to give free help ...Ken Westerman kwesterm@bigpond.net.au
