Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading

Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading.
When I rewind on the mp3, it plays correctly.

I'm french so my english isn't very good...

I try to change the sound card, my mp3 encoder, with win 98 SE and XP pro... it doesnt work.

I know that some of you have the same problem so how do you do? What is the solution? Work only with wav files?

Thanks. Herve

Re: Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading

I have had this same problem, and it is a mystery to me. In fact, sometimes it skips right over a song that played just fine the last time it came up in the schedule. I must emphasize that these problems happen only occasionally. All in all, Raduga has been working very reliably for me for almost a year and a half.

It seems if I remove the offending song from the play list, save the modified play list, then put the song back in and once again save, it seems to run OK the next time.

Unfortunately, that makes absolutely no sense. I think the fact that it plays the next time has nothing to do with anything I have done. It has to be a problem with the MP3, and the MP3 player used by the computer. To my knowledge, Raduga does not actually decode the MP3, it just uses whatever program you already have in your computer. I know there are a variety of MP3 players available. I’m using the Fraunhaufer (SP?), which you’d think would work.

If anyone has a suggestion of how to really fix this, I'd be very grateful.

Ok, so it is a important bug! How can a radio use Raduga for automation?? It's impossible!!!

Is an FM station in the world use Raduga??? How they do?

But I have understood that if my mp3 is coded with 192K quality, Raduga works.... 192 is poor quality....

Re: Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading

The answer:

Install Media Player 9.0
Go to Raduga>Options>Plugins>Output Device and make sure that "Default Directsound Device" is chosen, or this jumping will happen. You must be using Directsound or you will not acheive smooth overlaps.

But I have only Raduga v1.1.1
I haven't this option...
I have already WMP 9.0

Re: Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading

To answer this question: "How can a radio use Raduga for automation?? It's impossible!!! "

Nope. I've been using Raduga on the air for a long time now. It runs 24/7. My listeners never know if it occasionally skips a song. Only I find that out when I review the log. It just plays the next song, and nobody is the wiser.

The problem of occasionally playing just a couple of seconds of a song is a very rare occurrence. As Bill has pointed out is not really a function of Raduga. I'm going to take his suggestion and install Media Player 9.0. Hopefully that will help.

Raduga does run a radio station rather well. I'm able to leave it unattended for weeks at a time if I need to. It's that reliable. I travel a lot, and find that by using "PC Anywhere" and a laptop computer, I can make any changes I need from anywhere there is a telephone. I also have a way to dial up and listen to the station from any phone just to make sure there is not a problem. In fact, my monitoring line is a speed dial number on my cell phone.

Maybe I've been lucky, but it has worked fine for me.

Re: Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading

The earlier versions of Raduga required 2 soundcards for overlap. v3.6 works well with just one card.

Re: Sometimes Raduga plays 2 Seconds of a Song and jumps to the next without fading

I'm going to try Raduga v1.1.1 with a digigram sound card. Maybe it will work...

I think this bug is due to the 256K encoding.

I'll tell you if the digigram sound card stop this bug...

Thanks for yours answers!
