Scheduled Event Expiry

I apologize if this has been discussed before. I tried to look into the archives but, with a dialup connection, that's a time consuming proposition and I need an answer fairly soon.

We run specialty shows using minilists in Raduga 3.6. and have been experiencing a problem once the show ends. I have scheduled events, usually station ID's or short Mohawk language clips that run on the fifteens and, once the show ends, several of these that haven't run (due to the minilist playing) just fire off one after another. This leads to several station IDs in a row.

I'd like to know if there is any way to make a scheduled event expire after a set time, say, ten minutes. If not, is there a workaround?

Thanks,

Cal White

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

I'm afraid I don't have a good solution for this. The best solution would be not to schedule events when you don't want them to play.

You can manually reset pending events by pressing the Play, Stop or Next button. Also when you go to the "Schedule Events" dialog and press "OK", any pending events are reset.

If you prefer to disable scheduled events automatically before the show starts, you could use the script event DisableEvents.vbs from the Raduga SDK or schedule an empty events.ini file. However, I don't see a way to enable the scheduler automatically after the show.

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

Hmm, time for Raduga 3.61... <G>

Unfortunately, the main show that has this problem runs until after I go home, so no one is there to reset things.

Thanks anyway,

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

Would this problem be solved if you could schedule your station id on 23 hour a day, i.e. every hour, except during the pre-recorded show?

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

I agree with Cal, not meaning to be rude Wolfgang, but we shouldn't have to work around this you should fix it so we can set an expiring time after event not running close to it's time, if it is your intent to sell to pro. stations this feature is essential

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

The new version will allow you to specifiy on which daily hours events are to be played. That means you can exclude the hours where you have planned pre-recorded shows. There's no reason to schedule an event that you don't really want to play.

a) Will this solve the problem?
Or
b) Will you still need an option like "don't play scheduled events if they are XX minuts over time", where XX in configurable between 1 and 60 minutes? If the answer is yes, please explain, why?

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

A. will help, but B. is essential, I run liners EVERY ten minutes and I have some songs that can last 5 to 15 minutes long, what I want is for Raduga to skip the events (liners) so they don't play back to back if a song runs over past the next liner time, does this explanation help????

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

Thank you for the explanation.
a) is already implemented in the latest beta version, which is to be relaeased soon
b) I have added this option to the wish list, because the feature set for the upcoming version is already frozen.

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

Frozen....don't you mean maybe you won't add too much to this version because it wouldn't make financial sense??? Since Raduga offers no free updates like many of the other automation programs you make it very difficult to remain loyal to Raduga....Just my opinion

Re: Scheduled Event Expiry

Frozen means that Raduga 3.8 is to be released on Monday and I won't compromize its stability by adding new features. However, new features will be added to upcoming versions.

Starting with Raduga 3.8 we are going to give free updates for 12 months after the initial purchase or after purchasing the last update.
