Scheduling Promos

Please excuse me if this has been discussed before. I have been playing with a demo of Raduga and I need some help with something. If I have ten (10) :20 promos and I want to schedule them to play 20 after the hour and 40 after the hour but have those 10 promos in a rotation so that it won't keep playing the same ones over and over but rather rotate them, how do I accomplish this? I tried to create a rotation but it played all 10 back to back instead of just one and then going back to the music playlist. Can this also be done with commercials as well? If I create an event 10 after the hour and 30 after the hour to play a "list" of say 20 commercials can Raduga rotate them so that the same spots don't repeat in the same order every hour?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Scheduling Promos

Hi Lisa,

once you save your rotation, make sure the extention is "*.rotation" and not "*.alb" (normal playlist) or "*.mpl" (mini playlist).

And yes, you may rotate your commercials the same way but I guess a mini-playlist is the better solution if you like to play them in blocks. Rotating jingles is also a great option :-))

Volker -

Thanks! The rotations worked great.

As far as the commercials go, what is usually the best method to schedule them into Raduga? Just insert them into the schedule by date and time? Or use a mini-playlist? Is there some sort of "traffic" software that's compatible with Raduga? Let's say the computer that's on the air is in the main studio and I am in the production room. I would like to edit the log and add commericals to Raduga via the network but it looks like the Events.ini file is a little cumbersome to manipulate using Notepad. What is the best method to add and maintain commercials with Raduga?

Thank you for your help with this!

Re: Scheduling Promos

Hi again,

well - one of the biggest advantages in Raduga is : it's all up to you :-))

You may programm the commercials one by one in the event manager, by rotations or in mini-playlists etc. - all depends, how many you got, but I believe that mini-playlists are ideal for it.
Have a look at "Airlist" - you may download the demo here 4 free, this is just another great way to organize your clocks.

About networking: I use 2 PC's - both with exacly the same data + structure, so I prepare my playlists on one and copy them over to the actual "On Air" machine. Of course this means more work but it's also a fantastic security - if a machine fails, then the second takes over ... without any missing files.

I really appreciate all your help with this. You have been wonderful! :D

When you say, "both with exacly the same data + structure" does that mean the PC is a clone? How do you get past the file location issue? I guess what I am asking is this...

I use Windows XP and when Raduga looks for something (I.E. Music Folder 1 on the Desktop) it will show a route of this:
C:\Documents and Settings\MainStudio\Desktop\Music1

Well if I copy the events.ini log over the network from the Production room it looks like this: C:\Documents and Settings\Prod1\Desktop\NewMusic

So now when Raduga trys to look for a file it won't find it because the path is incorrect.

Other then totally reformatting the Production computer and naming it to the same name as the Studio computer (which would confuse the network anyhow right?) is there an easier way to change the path name so that both reflect the same? ...or am I just totally missing the idea here? :)

Thanks!

Re: Scheduling Promos

Bingo Lisa :-))

They are clones, I just renamed them differently and changed on one the IP - that's all and it works like charm.

Well I'm not sure about any other way's of networking with Raduga - this might be a question for Wolfgang - but my logic tells me that you will need 3 pc's:

1.) Server with mp3 files
2.) On Air PC
3.) Production PC

like this production and on air are sharing the same path for the data - correct me if I'm wrong Wolfgang.

and your questions are welcome Lisa...

Re: Scheduling Promos

Just a quick note re: 2 PCs sharing data/audio.

If you have a D: drive on your Studio PC, use that for ALL Audio and Playlists. Share the D: Drive in Windows, then map a drive on all your Production/Office PCs and set that as D: (you may need to move your CD-ROM drive letters around!).

Once you've done that, D:\ on any PC will then be treated as if it were a local source.

Nice! Thanks Charlie!

I will try that out on Monday. That would save a lot of time there if I didn't have to reformat.

WOW!! That is really great news. I have been searching around for some kind of traffic software that was fully compatible with Raduga. Is this your company? If so, maybe you can help me out here. I am in the United States and I noticed that a lot of the English pages are in Bulgarian. I could not translate it. I tried to download Traffic Manager 1.5 SS - Demo version and I got a message while installing it that said Traffic Manager 1.5 SS - Demo has exprired. and it would stop there. How much does this program cost? I didn't see that on the website.

Thanks for the great link!!
