Skipping During Playback

A customer is reporting random skipping of music, all encoded using Cool Edit (Frauhofer codec). Music is 320k/bit, and Jingles/Ads (from MPLs) are 128k.

The skipping occurs 99% during an MPL Advert Set. I'm at a loss to why it's happening. The PC is Windows2000, Media Player 9 and latest updates (so I'm told). PC is doing nothing else, and is a 1.6GHz Duron, running latest version of Raduga.

Charlie, does this skipping occur during the overlap period? In this case please read the FAQ article:
http://www.wolosoft.com/en/raduga/faq.html#overlap

Also remove all DirectX plug-ins to verify that they don't cause this behaviour.

Thanks for the tip, but no - It's during the middle of the advert break that's coming from an MPL. The DShow shows the same screenshot as the FAQ. The codec info is the Frauhofer one from Cool Edit.

The odd thing is, something it plays fine, other times it's bad - but the skipping appears to be totally random.

There may be several reasons, for example network problems, screen saver, power management, backgound processes to mention a few. It's absolutely impossible to resolve this case on this board.
