Re: open a big files will fail with program crash

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you hit the limits of SuperEdi. SuperEdi always loads the complete file into memory. The Unicode edition will even need 2 bytes per character. That means, you would need at least 1 GByte free RAM to opening such a large file.

Re: open a big files will fail with program crash

Files smaller than 10 MByte normally open quite fast and without problems. Could you please send this file (compressed) by e-mail to wolo@wolosoft.com.

By the way, do you use the Unicode edition (3.7.2 U, see Help/About) of SuperEdi?

Thank you.

Re: open a big files will fail with program crash

It appears that SuperEdi will crash if the text contains one one line that is longer than 500,000 characters.

Re: open a big files will fail with program crash

what about a shiftreturn at 400000 chars, which is temporarily?
the windows editor works like this.
