No Html Preview ability

Hi, I've just installed SE 3.2 and I'm having the same problem with it I had with 3.1: it seems to be unable to invoke my browser for html preview. Moreover, there seems to be no option for telling SE where to find the browser.

Also, I don't understand why my interface isn't that cool Windows xt interface instead of the flat colorless one I'm getting. My operating system is Windows Me. Does that have something to do with it?

Re: No Html Preview ability

The 'Preview Document' feature invokes the default application that is associated with the file. You can change the association in Windows Explorer (Tools/Folder Options/File Fypes). Alternately you can use the Quickstart bar to invoke a different application. Read the chapter 'User Defined Tools' in the SuperEdi help file for details.

The Windows XP look is only available on Windows XP. SuperEdi automatically adopts the look and feel of the system where it runs on.

Re: No Html Preview ability

I've placed IE on the quickstart toolbar. However, when I click on it it doesn't display the active document, instead it defaults to the IE default.

I suppose what I want to do is apply this "tool" to the current document. I suppose further, that I'm required to add a parameter. I did this by choosing drive "C" and it wound up crashing my system.

All I want is to view the current HTML document in a browser. Why is this so complicated? It most editors the feature is automatic. I'm not a programmer and would rather not fool around with "parameters" and whatnot.

Re: No Html Preview ability

On most computers, the standard web browser (Quickbrowser, Internet Explorer or Mozilla) is associated with .htm and .html files. So you don't have to configure anything for SuperEdi.

Professional web designers can test their pages with mutlple browsers using the Quickstart bar. The help file tells you how easy it is to pass the current document as parameter.

Re: No Html Preview ability

I don't think you understand. Explorer is my standard browser and yet nothing happens when I hit preview HTML-- nothing at all.

I've never had this problem with an editor before and would like you to help me trouble-shoot it.

Re: No Html Preview ability

This just happened to me. Why would the Tools|Preview Document suddenly get grayed out??
I did a complete uninstall of Superedi and re-installed it. That did not fix the problem.

Thanks

Re: No Html Preview ability

Follow up. It turns out that SuperEdi does not allow/provide for a Document Preview for documents named *.html. Even though the *.htm and *.html have the same Firefox associated with them.

Re: No Html Preview ability

There must be something wrong with the association of the .html extension. Try to assign that extension to your favourite browser using the "Default Programs" control panel applet.
