Getting Started

I've installed CVS-Ext and prepared CVS in a Path directory, and opened a new project in SourceForge. How can I get CVS-Ext to start working with my SF project?

Basically you must set the environment variable CVS_RSH to the full path to SSH. Since there is no ssh.exe for Windows, you should use plink.exe from the PuTTY project <http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html>.

However, I must admit that I never got it working without warnings on the command line and I never actually used CVS Shell Extension with a SourceForge project.

To get started with CVS Shell Extension I recommend you to start a local CVS project by folling the paragraphs 2.6 and 1.3 of the CVS manual.

Before starting this, make sure that you have cvs.exe available via %PATH%.

So, you have CVS-Ext on SourceForge, and you don't use it to commit itself up there? Sorry, but I just find this kinda silly :P

Anyhow, I was able to make CVS-Ext run on a local server, so I should be able to figure out how to make it work with SF pretty soon.
