We are working on C project without any Version Control software; I am very new to CVS concept;

Please suggest how i should start using CVS and get its benefit.

Start by reading the CVS manual chapters 1-5.

The CVS shell extension assumes that you have installed CVS.exe in the %PATH% and that you uderstand the basics of CVS.
