Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

I have got a new album. Raduga doesn't play some compositions at all. The slider goes, but no sound at all. If you manually move the slider for 3sec or at any other position it works ok. Some of them work fine. Winamp, WMP, and all other software which can play MP3s work without any problems.

This is file info:
Size: 9265109 bytes
Header found at: 1044 bytes
Length: 232 seconds
MPEG-1 layer 3
320kbit, approx. 8874 frames
44100Hz Stereo
CRCs: No, Copyrighted: No
Original: Yes, Emphasis: None

Raduga ver. 3.8.7

Any help?

Thanks,

Dragan

Re: Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

I suppose, the file was encoded with the LAME encoder. If you use this encoder, then you must specify the command-line option --strictly-enforce-ISO for bitrates of 256 kbit/s or higher.

Re: Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

Which software is the best to find which file is coded in 320 or 256 kbit/s?!? It's not so easy to manually check 500 GB of files.

Thanks,

Dragan

Re: Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

I don't know any software for that, but you can select at the ordner-options, sort the files for the MB-size. If the file an 256 oder 320KB-version, then it's often between 6 or 8 MB.
The LAME has another problem. If you rip a CD to MP3, then make it not in 256 KBit. Raduga often will not play, but if you sample to 224 KBit, then it's o.k.

@ Dragan Nikolic

Windows Media Player can show the bitrate it the Media Library.

Re: Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

I never used WMP for playing MP3s, just Winamp, SF and Raduga.

I'll try WMP or I'll wait for Raduga release which will work without those problems.

Thanks

Re: Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

Use EncSpot for finding out bitrate, encoder etc.
Just "Google" it and you'll find the basic version freeware.

About LAME; It's considered the best, and is
certainly the most widely used encoder, so
refering to it as being the cause for that Raduga
won't play the file and telling people to encode
in lower bitrates seems like a rather LAME way to
try and dismiss what is actualy a major flaw with
Raduga. A pitty as it is a very useful program
otherwise.

Re: Doesn't play MP3 320 kbs

This bug has been fixed in a recent version of LAME, i.e. you don't need the --strictly-enforce-ISO option anymore. That means, Raduga will play back any MP3 file encoded with a recent version of LAME at any bitrate.

Unfortunately many people still old versions of LAME and you may still find MP3 files that were encoded with these old versions.

This problem cannot be fixed in Raduga, because Raduga does not have its own MP3 decoder. Instead it uses the codecs (DirectShow filters) that are installed on the Windows system. The advantage is that you can play virtually all file formats with Raduga by installing the apropriate DirectShow filters.
