Two soundcard version?

Does anyone here (either user or techie) know if there is going to be a two soundcard version of Raduga. We use it for automation, but it's also very good for roadshows - but it would be much nicer if there were the facility to play the tracks out via different cards.

If anyone has used PCDJ, it uses something similar - the tracks are cued up on separate "carts" and can be played on different sound cards.

Any thoughts or am I making no sense whatsoever?

Cheers,
James

Re: Two soundcard version?

You can already select the sound card to use by Raduga in the "Plug-ins" dialog, provided you have a version with DirectX plug-ins enabled. However, you can only select one sound card there.

If you wanted to use multiple sound cards at the same time - how should Raduga know which one you want to use for which song?

Re: Two soundcard version?

I'm not sure how it would work, but some sort of system where you just select which sound card for which song. We'd like to be able to use separate faders on the mixing desk so that we can prefade tracks or mix between live and automated output whenever we like.

Re: Two soundcard version?

I get around this when the station is live, by having a 2nd copy of Radgua running on the same PC, routed to another sound-card.

The main playlist contains all the Ad Breaks (MPLs), I just ALT-TAB and hit P to play the Ads... Each Ad is packaged with an In + Out Jingle so I know when they finish.

It would also be handy to have Raduga select any available GAME Port. Then you could wire a START ADs button to your desk, and it ONLY fires the Advert copy of Raduga...

Clever, eh ?

Re: Two soundcard version?

That's the sort of thing Charlie! That's a great idea, especially the remote start button. This would be a very useful feature for Raduga to incorporate (it could also work in my case - starting the automated playout whenever the button is pressed and then it can be faded out when live output resumes etc).

Is this a possibility Wolfgang?

Re: Two soundcard version?

You can use a joystick or compatible device to control Raduga. The first 4 available buttons control the Start, Stop, Next and Break features. If there are more buttons, then you can even fire some jingles.

If you start 2 instances of Raduga, then you can temporary assign a second soundcard to the second Raduga instance. But you can't select a second joystick. Is that what you need?

Re: Two soundcard version?

Yes, the ability to select more than 1 GAME Port if Raduga finds more than one.

(just like sound cards - in plugin)

I wonder if you can add switches to the .exe file when you make an icon on your desktop ?

So you run RADUGA.EXE -2 and that'll load a different set of configs like Sound+Game settings...

Just ideas...

Re: Two soundcard version?

I also have a soundcard question... I want to start 2 instances of Raduga. One playing songs fro mplaylist 1 to soundcard 1 and the other playing songs from playlist 2 on soundcard 2.
In our bar we could then play different music in different rooms, without the need for 2 pc's. Is that possible, and so, where can I change the settings in such a way that each instance of Raduga automatically plays to the correct soundcard........

Re: Two soundcard version?

Raduga stores all preference settings (including the selected sound card) in the user's registry branch. Therefore, if you start Raduga as a different user, you can use different settings.

To start a program as a different user on Windows XP, hold the shilft key while pressing the right mouse button on the Raduga start menu icon. Then select "Run as..." from the context menu and select a different user. You can also use the "runas" command-line tool to automate this process.

Re: Two soundcard version?

I would need it working in such a way, that if you start up the pc, two instances of raduga should start up automatically (through the startup menu for example) and each one should run on a different soundcard, without the need of pressing any keys or anything. Would that be somehow possible? (ps. I use windows 2000)

Re: Two soundcard version?

1. Create a new user account "Raduga2" with a password
2. Create a shortcut in the Startup menu pointing to "C:\Program Files\WoLoSoft\Raduga\Raduga.exe"
3. Create another shortcut in the Startup menu with this command line:
runas /savecred /user:Raduga2 "C:\Program Files\WoLoSoft\Raduga\Raduga.exe"

The next time you log on you will be asked once to enter the password for user Raduga2.

Unfortunately this works only on Windows XP. On Windows 2000 the parameter "/savecred" does not exist. Therefore you will have to enter the password each time you log on.

Re: Two soundcard version?

Wolfgang: I came across a USB sound interface - the AudioTrak Maya EX - that can function as two separate soundcards under programs such as PCDJ and BPM Studio. I do not know what would be involved in coding Raduga to steer overlapping audio playback to these two Maya "decks", but I believe that may have been the initial suggestion at the top of this forum. The Maya EX actually has six outputs, so it may also be possible to direct the output of the timed Event List and Jingle Buttons to play out to a third set of outputs.
Again, I don't know what is involved in setting up Raduga to handle this, but I did want you to know about this product if you had any interest.
http://www.audiotrak.net/mayaex.htm, with a link to the PDF manual as well.
