Re: Is it possible to set a default encoding when opening file?
Dear Mr/Mrs. Anonymous, I don't understand why your computers encoding changes automatically. However, with SuperEdi you can manage it. You can set the default encoding that SuperEdi used on drag and drop operation or if you open files from Windows Explorer. The setting is found under Tools/Options/Unicode. If you select default(ANSI), then SuperEdi uses the default codepage of the operating system. However, if the encoding of the operating system changes frequently and you want to use always the same encoding in SuperEdi, then you must select a different default encoding. For example select Cyrillic (1251) if you frequently edit Russian texts. If you have set Cyrillic (1251) as default encoding, but you want to edit a Turkish text, then you must open the turkish file with File|Open and select the encoding Turkish (1254) for this single file. If you don't know the encoding of a file, then you must try possible encodings in the File|Open dialog until you find one that works. SuperEdi can automatically detect UTF-8 and UTF-16 if the byte order mark (BOM) is used in these files.
